Well, what a brilliant show! We have just come back from this years Motorcycle Live!
We decided to attend of the first day and got in early, so all the stands were relatively quiet. Highlights for me, in regards to the bikes, include the Yamaha T7, the ARC Vector, BMW S1000RR, R1250GS, Royal Enfield Interceptor and the Triumph 1200 scrambler. I think 2019 will be a busy year, full of test rides!
Although all the new metal looked amazing, the bike(s) that peaked my interest were the Royal Enfield Interceptor and the Triumph 1200 scrambler. This is mainly down to the fact that I may be in the market for a modern retro in the new year. It is amazing how your perception of a bike changes once you are able to sit on them. The most comfortable bike, more me, was the Triumph. Its extra height and wider bars made it feel very familiar to the GS. However, the 650 Interceptor was amazing. It looks incredible and will be hitting the UK market with OTR price tag of £5.5k (which includes 3 years warranty and road side assistance) – I think its competitors will be paying close attention to this bike in the coming months…
The best stand award goes to Harley Davidson. So much attention to detail went into its stand, tapping into the Harley brand and lifestyle ideals. Points of interest include a barbers and wind machines in front of two of their bikes to portray the ‘wind in your hair’ experience! Haha! Honourable mention has to go out to CCM. To promote its extensive range of custom Spitfire motorcycles, the company brought in an actual Supermarine Spitfire for punters to sit in! Brilliant stuff!
However, the highlight for me was meeting fellow vlogger, and YouTube legend, Bruce Smart; AKA TeaPotOne. It was fantastic meeting a fellow vlogger and having the opportunity to chat. The man has ridden around the world on a GSXR, he is the real deal! However, the best bit about meeting Bruce was that he knew who we were! Not only that he said that he followed us and assumed that we would be at the social media hub too! This made my day!
Who knows, maybe we will be asked to exhibit at next years show! Something for us to aim for!…but what I do know is that TeaPotOne and Team MAPPED will be meeting up in 2019 for a ride!
I would also like to thank the organisers of Motorcycle Live for launching the social media hub, I think it is a brilliant move and shows real recognition to what vloggers are doing for the industry – I know that Richy Vida (Wildbad Touring), TMF (The Misseden Flyer) and Duke Blade – to name but a few – will be at the hub during the week. So, if you want to meet some big names in the world of British vlogging get down to Hall 4 this week!
