The date is Friday 8th February, 2019. It’s just after 5 o’clock. It has been 404 days since I have been able to ride – or drive. I have just had confirmation that my drivers licence is in the post and I can now legally ride/drive again.
I am in shock. I do not have the words to describe how I am feeling – after the initial euphoria, of course. I feel mentally and physically drained. As I sit here, on my dining table writing this blog I am finding it difficult to process that I can now legally walk out to my garage and take my bike out for a ride.
I am over the moon. I can not wait to get out there and start making up for lost time. There are so many things I want to do on my bike over the next year and I am so excited about sharing them all through MAPPED/FA.
I can not begin to thank all of my friends and family for all of their support. There were some very dark days over the past fourteen months, but everyone has stuck with me. It is more than I deserve. As I have mentioned before, ‘thank you’ does not begin to cover the debt of gratitude I have for those special people.
I also need to thank the MAPPED/FA community which has provided me with so many words of encouragement over the past year. I am both surprised and humbled by the kind messages of support. It demonstrates how great the motorcycle community is. I am so proud to be apart of it. Thank you!
It is also funny how things work out. I received an unexpected package in the post today. I was a t-shirt (below) with the best possible regime stated on it: Coffee (6:00am) Ride (7:00am-5:00pm Beer (6:00pm). It was a gift from my mate Toby. It came with the message; ‘Blake’s schedule for the next 12 months’. It was the most perfect gift on the right day!- Needless to say, it will be worn on the first ride!
Right! Upwards and onwards! I need to get my A game ready for vlogging! I am some what out of practice!…if I am really honest, I am more than a little nervous to start recording my thoughts again! I hope I find my footing! Along with riding a bike again! (did I mention, it’s been 404 days since I have swung my leg over a motorcycle! Haha!).
I will see you on the road. It is an AMAZING feeling to be back.
